Flex and Apollo PXL Reminder app

Adobe Apollo runtime installer for your OS.
I’ve built a few Apollo apps already but the only one that’s remotely ready to show is the PXL Reminder. I find myself making a trillion notes in Outlook for myself daily because I have the memory capacity of a flea. Little reminders flood my desktop and interrupt my work all day and night it seems. So I figured, how about a simple, yet cool reminder system to serve no other purpose but enter these various notes for myself and store them for the proper date, and pop up a reminder for me when they’re due. Complete with a nifty little alarm beep. Or in theory, any kind of sweet Flash Player type animation, movie, or sound I want….even a completely customizable reminder if I should get the notion to add that in later.

For now, its nothing impressive, just a simple little thing but it makes me happy and it’ll remain fun for about a week. Right now, it has two screens for data entry, a “bill” screen and a simple note screen. Upon entering a small detail, due date, and alarm date (and price for bill) I hit enter, the Apollo app creates/opens an xml file on my HD and writes a new item to store for it’s reminder date. Every day when I open the app, it first checks all the reminders for a match with today’s date and if it finds one or more it’ll set up a timer for the count down to the swell nifty reminder to pop up and I simply hit the button and forget what’s due anyway
The point is, Apollo is very very cool so far! Above is a screen shot of the basic chromeless app as it stands today. The .air file can be downloaded here and I’ll be posting the code once I clean it up a bit.
