Attest 3 for Flex 4 ACE exam coming shortly
Jul 28th, 2010 by Dave
As you may know already, the Flex 4 ACE exam was just announced on the Adobe Developer Connection site about a week ago. We’ve had quite a few inquiries about a version of Attest for the Flex 4 exam. Of course there is, we wouldn’t forget you
Here’s how Attest 3 is going to work. Instead of maintaining two different applications, Holly and I made it slightly easier on ourselves by combining the free and commercial versions into one. So there’s only one download from now on, no more Attest vs Attest PRO, there’s only Attest 3. If you run Attest 3, you’ve basically installed the trial version of the application.
The trial version is going to offer the mini exam feature and upgrading to the commercial version will unlock the full version with the show answers feature, timed vs un-timed, learning mode, etc. For the time being, the free version (trial) is coming out in roughly a week. We’re just ironing out some more testing (how ironic for a testing app – ha!) and last minute tweaks.
In the short term, Attest 3 will be released as the free version only. The full commercial version is coming soon thereafter. The app currently runs one mini exam and it will not allow you to purchase until we release the full version through the AIR Marketplace. You should be able to download the app within a week or so and start using it to study. This should be enough to tide you over for another week or two for the full version, but we’re on track to have the commercial app ready by mid-August.
We had planned on having Attest out sooner, but believe it or not this will still be the app’s earliest release in comparison to the Flex ACE exam’s release. Old timer Attest users should be happy this time around
As always, I’ll post as soon as there’s more.
Edit** I should add that the “trial” that doubles as the free version will not expire. So you can use it for all of eternity or until the Flex 5 ACE comes and I’m late with Attest 4 – ha!

Cool, thanks a lot!
Great work indeed. Thanks a lot guys.
was just about to hit you up.
Hey @Brandon
very soon, I promise ha!
There will be the one mini for now (released within a week) and then very soon after that, the full version will be available. We didn’t want to keep everyone waiting longer, so we figured it’s better to release the mini for now, and the rest in phases.
Looking forward to the new version. Thanks a lot for the effort.
Looking forward to it! I’m looking to take the test soon…..any idea when it may be available? thanks! – Mike
@Mike – The beta (which is one mini exam) is ready but we’re waiting on Adobe for approval on the Marketplace. The full version is going to be at least a week or two behind the first release. We’re on track for a full release in August.
Dave, Thanks for the quick reply…..Ok I’ll keep studying in the meantime then…..
Hi, Any update on the availability of this? Looks like the older version is still on the Adobe Marketplace.
Thanks!
@Greg,
The full version of Attest should be out this week. There was a hold up in the AIR Marketplace when we submitted the latest version. I’m going to write another blog post now to fill the details.

I want to buy the retail version of Attest 3. Can you tell me how?
Hi DKA,
When you start up the application, there is a green “Get License” button on the trial screen. That will take you to the Adobe AIR Marketplace where you can login and purchase. The green button is theirs, but they definitely could make it a bit more user friendly

Hi there,
Does Attest 3 cover everything that was there in Attest 2 for flex 3??? Can I certify in both 3 and 4 using attest 3?
Also, I happened to see this in market place:
Cost: Pay
Price: 20.0
Language: English
Version: 3.2
Previous Versions: 3.0.3, 3.0.4, 3.0.5, 3.1.1
Platform: Linux | Mac | Windows
Requires: Adobe AIR 2.0
Downloads: 196
Trial: Yes
It says, price as ’20′. What is the currency used there? Is it in USD, Euros or something else?
Cheers!
@MS,
Yes, Attest 3 now covers the Flex 3 and 4 exams. You can study and take exams for both certifications. The 20 is USD, if you’re in another country though, it should show a different price based on your country’s currency.
Wow! That’s great. Can’t wait to get certified now
Thanks for the info, Dave.
Cheers!
